"Degree Completion and Tuition Waiver" Brown Bag
The office of Human Resources has scheduled a Brown Bag session to discuss the Degree Completion Award and the tuition waivers available to SIUE employees. It will provide an in-depth look at new changes, eligibility, what is waived, participating universities, form completion, deadlines and other frequently asked questions.
LaToya Scroggins, Human Resources Associate, will be presenting this session on Thursday, April 11 from 12:15pm-12:45pm in the Mississippi/Illinois Room, MUC. Four additional sessions will be offered on Tuesday, April 23rd in the the University Club, MUC at 5:00pm, 6:00pm, 7:00pm and 8:00pm.

Staff Senate Summer 2013 Scholarship Available
The University Staff Senate is accepting applications for its Summer Scholarship. The deadline for receipt of the entire package is March 29, 2013 by 4:30pm.
To be eligible for the scholarship award, you must meet the following criteria:
- You must be the son, daughter, grandchild, spouse, or civil union partner of a presently employed or retired Civil Service (excluding non-status) or Professional Staff employee (excluding appointments of less than 50% and term appointments of less than six months) of SIUE.
- You must meet admissions requirements for undergraduate study at SIUE.

General Meeting Scheduled for March 21
The next General Meeting of AFSCME Local 2887 will take place on March 21, 2013 at 5pm. The meeting will be held in Lovejoy Library, room 3021 (Third Floor Conference Room). Refreshments will be served.
Ed LaPorte from Council 31 will be on hand to give a first-hand update on the state contract negotiations, pension talks, and healthcare costs. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and find out how things will affect us on a local level. The meeting is open to all Members and Fair Share.
Parking for green lot tag holders is available in Lot A directly north of the library. Metered parking is also available in this lot. All current tags can park in nearby Lot F (Student Fitness Center) after 3pm. The conference room is located on the third floor of the library, the first room to the left of the north elevator/stairwell.

AFL-CIO Scholarship Available
The Greater Madison County Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO, has announced the 20th Annual John A. Broyer / Jack Greer Memorial Scholarship Award. This award may be presented to two 2013 graduating high school seniors at their regular meeting held on June 27, 2013.
The two $1,500 scholarships are available to students who have a parent or legal guardian who is a member of a local union affiliated with AFL-CIO (i.e.; Teachers, Laborers, Painters, Steelworkers, AFSCME, UFCW, etc.).
