Dues Rate Change for 2014

In accordance with the provisions of the AFSCME International Constitution, the minimum dues for all local unions have been adjusted effective January 1, 2014. The table below shows the current dues and the dues amount increase as of January 1.

For full-time Members, the change is an increase of $0.50 per month; part-time Members increase by $0.36 a month. The rates for Fair Share have also been adjusted based on the Fair Share reports that are compiled by Council 31 and AFSCME International.

These dues rates are the minimum dues specified by AFSCME International, and our Local is required to adjust our dues to these rates.  The minimum rate is adjusted annually in accordance with the average percentage increase in pay of all AFSCME members.

Degree Completion Award Available

SIUE’s Degree Completion Award allows one employee to complete his or her first baccalaureate degree as a full-time student each year. The award recipient receives two semesters off work with pay and a waiver of tuition for classes taken during the award period.

To qualify for the award, you must:
• Be a full-time civil service, administrative staff or professional staff employee
• Have worked for the University for at least three years
• Be within 32 credit hours of earning your first baccalaureate degree at the time the leave commences
• Earn the degree at SIUE
• Be willing to sign an agreement requiring you to work for SIUE for two years following your return from the award period
